What Brings You In Today?

May I help you?

As I approach the desk, I already have the answer in my head to this anticipated question. Basically, they want to know, why am I there, what brings me in? I know why I’ve come, specifically, so I answer without hesitation.

What if “Today,” this new day, which perhaps started moments ago or hours ago, were personified and became the receptionist for the day. What if after awakening from a night’s sleep but just before you got out of bed, Today looks you in the eyes and asks, “May I help you? What brings you in today?” As you motion to throw back the covers and swing your legs to the floor, Today’s hand raises, STOP! Wait, hold on. She motions then repeats, “What brings you in, into Today?” Why are you here? Why were you given another day to walk the earth? You pause then sit up in thought. How would you respond?

May our response be a kingdom purpose response.

To know and fulfill God’s purpose is our reason for being. Do we know what His purpose is for our lives? If not, reflect, maybe even reschedule coming in “Today” then ponder your plans, decisions, and the direction life is taking. Think about your days ahead, and answer Today when she asks, “What brings you in today?” The Kingdom of God doesn’t take walk-ins. John 12:27c-28 NKJV.

Be intentional about serving God. Then walk into the day, any given day, with a Kingdom mindset to shift your day, all your given days.
